Easter Gliding Weekend

Friday, 6th April 2012 at 8am - 8pm Monday, 9th April

The plan is to get as much flying done as possible, and give everyone a chance to progress with their pilot training. We'll get a dedicated UWE instructor for the weekend to make sure that we can fly as much as we possibly can. If conditions allow, we should also be able to have extended soaring flights and possibly some cross-country experience in the DG500 cross-country training glider!

We'll stay at the gliding club for the Easter weekend, either in tents or the club's bunk rooms. We'll leave UWE at 08:00 on Friday morning, allowing us to fly all of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Don't worry if you can't be there for the whole weekend, just tell us which days you can go so we can organise transport.

Gliding is a collaborative sport, so when you're not flying, you'll still be out in the open air helping to run the launch point. This will include launching the gliders, operating the radios and signals, learning how the winch works, and retrieving cables and gliders. The CGC members are keen to pass on their knowledge and experience - if you want to learn how to do something, just ask! All of these activities are interesting and fun, and are a good way of getting to know the other members at the club.

At the end of the day, we'll pack the gliders away and head off to the bar. For meals we'll try to sort out a BBQ for at least one of the nights, otherwise we'll go for a curry or a roast at the local pub.

If you think you might go solo during the weekend, you will need to provide CGC with a medial certificate. Please contact the committee for more information.

This is going to be a great weekend! A chance to do loads of flying and meet some new people. If you want to go, please sign up now! More details can be found below or by sending an email to Matt.

Showers and kitchen facilities are free for members to use.
